Uganda Judicial Officers' Association (UJOA) on June 2, 2023 held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Judiciary Headquarters, Kampala.

The UJOA Annual General Meeting is held every year to account to the Association Members, the achievements and challenges encountered during the year.

The hybrid meeting which enlisted both physical and virtual participation was chaired by Justice Tadeo Asiimwe, the President of the Association.

During the presentation of the annual report, the President urged members to keep UJOA ideals alive. And to equally adhere to the Judicial Code of Conduct.

Among the achievements registered in the year under review were highlighted. These included corporate social responsibility activities; purchase of relief food items for the people of Karamoja, the Association's active participation in the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association(CMJA) conference and East African Magistrates and Judges Conference(EMJC), and the opportunity of Uganda being selected to host this year's Conference in November.

The challenges highlighted included inadequate finances since the Association relies on membership subscription, UJOA house delay, and pending amendment of its Constitution, among others.

The Inspector of Courts, HW Amos Kwizera, who represented the Chief Registrar, HW Sarah Langa Siu, recognized the good work of the Association’s members in their respective stations. He congratulated those that have been promoted to higher ranks and urged them to deliver accordingly, while encouraging those that didn't make it to wait for their perfect timing. He however cautioned members against professional vices such as corruption, late coming, absenteeism, delayed judgments, among others.

The UJOA Executive pledged to more engagement of its members and stakeholders for better welfare, promotion of different sports activities, purchase of UJOA van. They also committed to fast track the Association’s Constitution amendment, sensitization and training through webinars and dialogue series as well as reviewing and drawing of the Strategic Plan 2023/2026.

The meeting was moderated by HW Prossy Katushabe, the Vice President.
